Television actor Vijayendra Kumeria has finally addressed the long standing speculation surrounding his marriage to Preeti Bhatia. The actor has confirmed that the two are no longer married and revealed that they had been living separately since 2022. Vijayendra and Preeti, who tied the knot in January 2012, have a daughter, Kimaya.
The actor had earlier chosen to stay away from publicly discussing reports about trouble in his marriage. However, after years of speculation, Vijayendra decided to speak about the situation and explain why he had maintained silence. Opening up about the difficult phase in his personal life, he said, “All this while, I was not ready to talk about it, as I myself was trying to figure out and accept things that were happening in my personal life. I have always been a private person and maybe I didn’t know how to handle that situation. But with time, I realised that instead of people making assumptions, it’s better to clear the air.”
Vijayendra also clarified that the separation was not the result of a sudden decision. According to the actor, he and Preeti had been facing differences for some time and attempted to resolve their issues before eventually deciding that parting ways was the best option. He said, “Such decisions are not taken overnight. We started having a lot of differences and compatibility issues, which escalated with time. It’s not that we didn’t try to resolve our issues, but eventually things didn’t work and we separated in 2022. It was a mutual decision and we got the decree in 2025.”
While the couple chose to go their separate ways, their daughter remained an important consideration in the decision. Vijayendra explained that he and Preeti had continued trying to make their marriage work for years, particularly because they wanted to provide a stable environment for their child. However, they eventually felt that co parenting separately would be better for Kimaya than allowing her to grow up around an unhappy relationship.
Talking about the same, the actor said, “It was a difficult decision because a child was involved, and that’s the reason Preeti and I tried for years to save the relationship, primarily for the kid. But I think it’s better for Kimaya as well to experience love from both parents separately instead of growing up in an unhappy environment. Like any parent, we want the best for her, and that’s what we are doing.”
The news also brings clarity to speculation that had surrounded Vijayendra and Preeti for several years. Reports about trouble in their marriage had surfaced publicly in 2023 after the two were noticed to have unfollowed each other on social media. At the time, Vijayendra had denied that there was trouble in their relationship.
Vijayendra and Preeti had married in 2012 and later welcomed their daughter Kimaya. The actor has continued to maintain a relatively private approach towards his family life, choosing not to discuss the details of his relationship publicly until now.
On the professional front, Vijayendra has been associated with several popular television shows, including Udaan and Naagin 4. He was most recently seen in Juhi Mui and has expressed an interest in exploring more varied roles, including opportunities beyond television.
